Biography
Jack is Of Counsel and continues representing clients on a select basis. He serves as a resource for the other attorneys at Mills Shirley. Clients often call pon him to lead internal investigations or in responding to accidents or disputes, in anticipation of litifation before it is filed. He has most recently tried jury cases involving commercial partnership interests, contracts, fiduciary duties, environmental releases, construction disputes, employment matters and professional negligence.
Jack has always specialized in complex civil litigation in the petrochemical and construction industries. His areas of emphasis include environmental, commercial litigation, construction and design related disputes and professional liability litigation.
He joined Mills Shirley after several years with the Galveston County District Attorney's Office, where Jack served as First Assistant and tried more than 200 cases ranging from capital murder to securities fraud.

- Defending major construction company against third-party claims for contribution for environmental clean-up under CERCLA
- Defending partner against claims of breach of duty of loyalty and care
Prosecuting claims of breach of contract and fraud in sale of business - Defending mass tort and property damage claims following accidental chemical release by a major petrochemical manufacturer
- Prosecuting claims for defective design and construction of methanol plant on the Texas Gulf Coast
- Defending engineer against claims of professional negligence in design of water treatment facility
- Conducting internal investigation and reporting to corporate general counsel on repeated process upsets in the operations of a petrochemical plant
- Defending international transportation company in accident involving multiple fatalities and catastrophic injuries
- Prosecuting claims of breach of supply agreement between chemical manufacturers
- Prosecuting claims of owner against contractor and design professionals for design and construction of major entertainment facility
- Defending contractor against claims of negligent construction and delay of major commercial project
- Prosecuting corporation claims against insurance broker for failure to secure coverage
