Galveston Attorney Maureen McCutchen Promoted to Secretary of Special Olympics Texas Board of Directors
McCutchen will continue to serve as the board’s attorney.
AUSTIN – Maureen McCutchen (Galveston), a board-certified attorney in Estate Planning and Probate by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, has been promoted to an officer position on Special Olympics Texas’ (SOTX) Board of Directors. Serving on the Texas Board since 2014 as its Attorney, McCutchen will continue to hold that position while taking on the role of Secretary.
“The board is very fortunate to have Maureen serve in this role and provide valuable advice in the service of our athletes,” said Chad Tywater, SOTX Board Chair.
McCutchen’s practice includes probate, trust, guardianship, estate planning and elder law. She is certified by the State of Texas to act as an ad-litem for minors and incapacitated persons and is often appointed by the court to act as an attorney ad-litem an as a guardian ad-litem. She is a qualified mediator and represents clients in business and real estate transactions and in civil litigation.
Before joining Mills Shirley LLP in 1993, McCutchen worked for the First Court of Appeals of the State of Texas as a briefing attorney. She also has served as an adjunct professor with the South Texas College of Law in Houston.
She is active in the community, serving as a past president and director of the Galveston Island Humane Society, a past president and member of the Galveston Bar Association and a past president and member of the Rotary Club of Galveston Island.
