Galveston Family Law Attorneys

In 2002, at Mills Shirley L.L.P., the oldest continuously operating law firm in the State of Texas, we began our newest practice group, Family Law, out of our Galveston office. Dealing with family law cases requires attorneys that are knowledgeable about family law, and sensitive to the needs of their clients. When we began practicing family law, we recognized that our greatest asset was our tradition of building relationships with our clients. Many divorces include issues such as the division of marital assets (division of property) and debt, child custody, child support, alimony (spousal support or maintenance) and visitation. These issues often continue long after a divorce is final, often requiring post-judgment modifications. Since we strive to create on-going relationships with our clients, we are there for them if their alimony, child support, child custody, or visitation agreements need to be modified or renegotiated.

In addition to handling divorces and related actions, Mills Shirley offers family law consultations. In these sessions, usually lasting about an hour, we provide individuals contemplating a divorce or post-divorce action with information about the laws set forth in the Texas Family Code. Our consultants help clients to understand how these laws relate to their unique situation. Additionally, these sessions provide information about how to prepare for a divorce action. The information provided includes, document collection, how to preserve the community estate, and methods of preparing, and in some cases shielding, any children involved. If you have a family law matter, including divorce, maintenance (alimony or spousal support), child support, child custody, or visitation issue, then contact an experienced Galveston family law attorney, and learn how you can put 150 years of legal experience in your corner.
