John practices in the firm's litigation, government, and wills and estates sections. Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and in Personal Injury Litigation, he specializes in the areas of personal injury defense, governmental law litigation, and civil law litigation.
A native Houstonian, John joined Mills Shirley in 1962 and became a partner in 1965. Since then, he has tried numerous cases, including automobile and industrial accidents, products liability, municipal law, civil rights, and estate litigation. John is active in his community, having served as a Director of the State Bar of Texas and in various offices with Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church. He currently serves as a director of the Sealy & Smith Foundation and as a trustee for the Galveston Wharves,.
